I am a coordinator with the CBD Alliance, which facilitates civil society organizations (NGOs, social movements, etc) work around the CBD, and is widely recognized as such. The Alliance facilitates general coordination and communication among civil society throughout the inter-sessional and sessional periods. We support financially nongovernmental, Indigenous and community representatives to participate in CBD meetings through a transparent self-selection process. We also produce the ECO, and other media/communication materials to ensure that the views of civil society are heard both inside and outside the process. We post updates on negotiations from a civil society point of view at www.undercovercop.org
We also work closely with the Secretariat and other Parties to ensure that the process remains as open as possible to civil society, as well as collaborating with them on items such as [square brackets], the newsletter for civil society. For background information on the CBD Alliance, go to www.cbdalliance.org
At COP 10, the CBD Alliance will bring together civil society for a strategy session prior to the negotiations, as well as a capacity building session for newcomers to the process. We will hold daily briefings and meetings for civil society.
Visit www.undercovercop.org to hear the latest from NGOs, social movements, and Indigenous Peoples. Download the most recent ECO (ECO is the voice of civil society within the CBD negotiations)! The site will be updated several times a day during COP. Follow twitter feed - UncoverCOP And on Facebook…Continue
