IIED at London Climate Action Week, November 2020

IIED and partners are participating in London Climate Action Week, a week-long digital event from 14-20 November 2020. This is the second series of London Climate Action Week events this year, with IIED again taking part following the successful series in July 2020. This week of events falls on the dates when the UN climate summit (COP26) was originally scheduled, and is now a major milestone building momentum towards the rearranged summit in November 2021.

COVID-19 has exposed deep inequalities in our society. This event on 17 November brings together experts to discuss integrated action on climate, nature and development, in the context of a green recovery from the pandemic.

Capacity building for climate action and ambition: what have we lea...

Time: 11am-12.15pm (GMT)

To effectively adapt to the escalating impacts of climate change, support for locally led climate action is needed. Training, advocacy, and capacity building are proven pathways to change, but what do we need to do now to ramp up ambition? On 18 November, this IIED and ICCCAD webinar will discuss what we have learned from past capacity building initiatives and how we can ramp up climate ambition.

Reforming climate finance to support locally led adaptation

Date: Wednesday, 18 November 2020

Time: 2-3.30pm (GMT)

There is global consensus on the need for actors and institutions at the local level to lead the development and design of adaptation solutions. Changes in finance flows, policy frameworks and organisational practices are needed to bring about this vision of locally led adaptation. This IIED and World Resources Institute (WRI) online event on November 18 will discuss how finance flows must enable actors at the local level to lead the development and design of climate adaptation solutions.
