The WAR for STEEL
A documentary by Basudev Mahapatra, India
Brief:
South Korean steel producer POSCO's steel plant project in the eastern province of Orissa, in India, has landed in a zone of war between people and their elected government. Local villagers are strongly opposing to the project that is planned against nature, environment, the marine ecology and, above all, a sustainable agrarian economy that have offered ample opportunities to thousands of families for a good or, at least, standard living. The state, by using its police forces, is engaged in curbing the democratic struggle. At least, five innocent lives are lost in the battle between people and their elected government.
