The Biodiversity Media Alliance held its formal launch event at the COP10 biodiversity conference in Nagoya, Japan yesterday (27 October).

The 30-minute event was filmed and can be watched online here.

The Biodiversity Media Alliance is a partnership between IUCN, Internews and the International Institute for Environment and Development.

At the launch event, Mike Shanahan (IIED), James Fahn (Internews’ Earth Journalism Network) and Hans Friederich (IUCN) spoke about why the partners had created the Biodiversity Media Alliance and what they hope it can achieve.

This was followed by a discussion with audience members including journalists and communicators.

After the launch, Green.tv interviewed Mike Shanahan about the Biodiversity Media Alliance and why media coverage of biodiversity issues matters. Watch the short interview here.
