Linking Journalism with the Web of Life
the citizen participation project „World Wide Views on Biodiversity“ (WWViews) might fit your interests, so we want to inform you about it in time. WWViews will take place at the 15th of September 2012 in about 30 countries on five continents. Hundred citizens per country deliberate in a daylong meeting on what has to be done to halt the worldwide loss of biological diversity. The project was created by the Danish Board of Technology and its partners and is supported by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity. WWViews is funded by Danish Ministry of Environment, the Villum Foundation and the Japan Fund for Global Environment.
The results of WWViews meetings will be presented to the delegates of the Convention on Biological Diversity at the COP 11 in Hyderabad, India. Experts, NGOs, industries and politicians have a say in these international negotiations. The meeting aims to make the voices of citizens heard.
The diversity of the citizen vote is safeguarded through a representative recruitment of citizens of different ages, origins, professions, gender and education.
The global proceedings will deliver detailed and in depth results, different views on global challenges that affect everyday life of people around the world.
The citizen participation project follows an already established method and takes place for the second time. In 2009 laypeople drew up directions and suggestions in the run-up to the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
We want to tailor our press-information to your needs and interests. WWViews touches not only biological diversity but also other topics such as democratisation of international treaties and negotiations for future sustainable economic development. Please let us know whether we shall inform you about certain aspects of the topic, the progress of the project, other contact persons, interview options, accreditation etc.
